Privacy Policy

1. What we collect

When you enquire, we collect the details you give us: name, email address, phone number if you provide one, country, travel party size, rough travel timing, your chosen vehicle on self drive trips, and anything you write in your message. We also record which page you enquired from and your browser type, which helps us answer sensibly and keep the enquiry form working.

When you go on to book, we collect the details needed to make real reservations, such as the names of the people travelling. We do not collect payment card details through this website; payments are handled through secure invoicing, and card details never touch our systems.

2. How we use it, and who sees it

Your information is used to prepare quotes, make bookings, provide support while you travel and reply to your messages. To deliver a booking we share details with our New Zealand operating partner and the suppliers in your itinerary, such as hotels, activity operators and rental vehicle companies, and each receives only what it needs, typically traveller names and dates.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing. We only send marketing ourselves if you have asked for it, and every such email includes an unsubscribe link.

3. Where it is stored, and the services we use

Enquiries are stored in a secure cloud database provided by Supabase, with access restricted to Silver Fern Travel. Our transactional email, such as the acknowledgement you receive after enquiring, is delivered by Resend, and our business mailbox is hosted with our email provider. The website itself is served by our hosting provider. Each of these services processes data on our instructions and under its own security and privacy commitments.

We retain enquiry details for as long as they are useful for helping you plan, and booking records for up to seven years to meet New Zealand tax and record-keeping obligations. You can ask us to delete your information sooner, and we will do so wherever the law allows.

4. Cookies, storage and analytics

This site uses Google Analytics to understand which pages help visitors, and sets no advertising cookies. For visitors in the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area, analytics cookies are switched off by default and Google receives only cookieless, aggregated signals. Your display currency choice is kept in your own browser’s local storage, and a sign-in cookie is used only on our staff page.

5. Your rights

Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 you can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. Email us and we will action it promptly. If you are unhappy with our response, you can complain to the New Zealand Office of the Privacy Commissioner.

If you are in the United Kingdom or the European Union, we honour the equivalent rights you are used to: access, correction, erasure, and objection to processing. The same email address is the way to exercise any of them.
