Everything travellers usually ask before booking. If your question is not here, email hello@silverferntravel.com and ask a human instead.
Send an enquiry from any tour page or the contact page. We check live availability with our New Zealand operations team, then send you a firm quote and a detailed itinerary within one working day. Nothing is booked and nothing is charged until you tell us to confirm.
A 20% deposit per person (minimum NZ$250) confirms your booking, and the balance is due 70 days before travel, with the exact date stated on your quote. Once you confirm, we issue an invoice with secure payment instructions, and deposits can be paid by card. All bookings are settled in New Zealand Dollars. We never ask for card details by email, and you never pay anything just to enquire or receive a quote.
You only ever commit a 20% deposit until the balance falls due 70 days before travel, and nothing at all until your quote is confirmed in writing. Your deposit confirms your bookings with our New Zealand operating partner, deposits can be paid by card so your card issuer’s protections apply, and every itinerary is operated by a Qualmark Gold certified New Zealand tour operator. The full explanation, including what UK and US card protections cover, is on our How Your Money Is Protected page.
Prices shown are genuine from prices per person, twin share, and depend on season, room type and availability. Prices displayed in currencies other than New Zealand Dollars are indicative conversions for convenience; your quote and final invoice are in NZD.
Yes, and most travellers do. Add nights, upgrade accommodation, swap activities, start from a different city or combine two itineraries. Tell us what you would change and we re-quote it, no obligation.
An intermediate rental car, every night of accommodation, the activities listed on the tour page, ferry and train segments where shown, a digital travel guide app and New Zealand based support while you travel. Flights to New Zealand are not included.
If your licence is current and in English, that is all you need. Otherwise you need an accredited translation or an International Driving Permit. We drive on the left, and our daily driving distances are realistic and relaxed.
For travel in the New Zealand summer, December to February, we recommend enquiring three to six months ahead: the best accommodation in Queenstown, Te Anau and Aoraki Mt Cook genuinely sells out. Shoulder seasons are more forgiving.
Comprehensive travel insurance is strongly recommended and is a condition of travel for most of our supplier partners. Arrange it in your home country when you confirm your booking.
Our itineraries are operated by one of New Zealand’s most established inbound tour operations groups, with decades of experience and long-standing relationships with hotels and activity providers nationwide. Silver Fern Travel designs, sells and supports your trip; trusted local operators deliver each component.
Two layers, always on. Your entire itinerary travels with you in a smart travel app: day by day plans, live vouchers, maps, driving guidance and local recommendations. Behind it sits your own travel specialist and our New Zealand based support team, reachable seven days a week before, during and after your trip.
You are never on your own. If weather closes a road, a flight runs late or plans simply change, message or call our in-country team and bookings are rearranged in real time while you carry on with your holiday.
