Singapore to New Zealand: flights, flight times and the new Christchurch nonstop

The northern winter schedule runs from late October 2026 to late March 2027, which is the New Zealand summer.

The new Air New Zealand Christchurch flight leaves Singapore just after midnight and lands mid-afternoon, using the airline’s refitted 787-9s. Christchurch Airport calls this its biggest international summer ever, and the Singapore seats are a large part of it. Schedules change, so check the exact days when you book.

Auckland or Christchurch: choose by your itinerary

If most of your trip is in the South Island, fly into Christchurch. Landing in Auckland for a South Island holiday means a domestic flight on top, and a day lost to it. Queenstown has no flight from Singapore; you connect through Christchurch or Auckland, and from Christchurch you can also drive or take a tour there through Lake Tekapo and Mount Cook.

Browse every tour starting in Christchurch or in Auckland. An open-jaw ticket, into Auckland and home from Christchurch or the other way round, usually works well for a trip that covers both islands, because it removes the backtrack.

The time difference and the overnight flights

New Zealand is 5 hours ahead of Singapore while it is on summer time, from 27 September 2026 to 4 April 2027, and 4 hours ahead the rest of the year. Singapore does not change its clocks, so this is the only shift to remember.

The overnight departures, Singapore Airlines at 10.35pm into Auckland and Air New Zealand just after midnight, land in the early to middle afternoon New Zealand time. Plan a gentle first evening, not a first-day drive, and start any tour the morning after you land.

Before you fly: NZeTA, levy and the arrival form

Singapore is on New Zealand’s visa waiver list. You request an NZeTA before you travel, NZ$17 through the official app or NZ$23 on the website, and pay the NZ$100 International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy at the same time. That is NZ$117 (about S$90) by app. The NZeTA lasts two years for multiple visits.

• Allow 72 hours for the NZeTA. There is no faster official service, whatever other websites say.
• Your passport must be valid for at least three months after the date you leave New Zealand.
• Airlines check that you hold a ticket out of New Zealand.
• Within 24 hours of your flight, complete the free traveller declaration. Singapore ePassport holders aged 10 and over can use the eGates.
• Driving: a current Singapore licence is in English, so it is valid on its own for 12 months from arrival, for visitors arriving from 1 November 2026.

Use only the official NZeTA channels; sites that offer to apply for you charge several times the fee for the same thing.

When to go, and what it costs

New Zealand’s trade reports name Deepavali through to the end of December as Singapore’s traditional peak for travel to New Zealand, and the 2026 year-end school holidays run from 21 November to 31 December. That is late spring into early summer here: long days, green hills, and the start of the walking season.
