Solo travel in New Zealand: the easiest hard-looking trip there is
New Zealand might be the world’s best solo destination and it is strange how rarely that is said plainly. It is safe to the point of statistical boredom, English-speaking, compact, full of other people travelling alone, and its tourism industry is structurally friendly to parties of one. The two real decisions are how to travel (small group or self drive) and how to handle the single supplement. Both have good answers.

The single supplement, handled plainly
Most touring prices are per person twin share, so a solo traveller either pays a single supplement for the room alone or, on some group departures, shares with another solo of the same gender to avoid it. Neither is a scam; a room simply costs what it costs. Our advice: budget the supplement from the start (typically 20 to 40 percent on the accommodation component), then treat any share option as a bonus.
